Kenyan challenge for Spotters Hockey Academy youngsters
Spotters Hockey Academy players enjoyed their first taste of international competition last week when they took on touring Kenyan school Banda.
A number of Bath schools were represented in the Spotters’ boys and girls XIs, which featured pupils from Years 6 to 9.
Spotters Academy director Sally Potter said: “I am really pleased to be able to provide this opportunity for local girls and boys to excel at their hockey.
“Competitive games provide a great canvas against which to display skills gained during the many training sessions these players will have attended.”

The matches took place at Kingswood School but the Academy is based at Beechen Cliff and is backed by the School’s Sports Partnership at Wellsway.
As well as providing coaching for Year 7 and 8 pupils in local schools, the Academy has recently started an initiative to get more girls involved in hockey.
A number of those who played Banda last week came through the scheme, which is being sponsored by Sitec, Lingua Communications and Uber Hockey.
Spotters will be running Academy sessions throughout the summer, along with a skill-based camp on March 25-26. Email spottershockey@yahoo.co.uk for more information.
