Award-winning director Ken Loach will be in Bath next week to showcase his latest film.

A special screening of The Angels' Share, which won this year's Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, will be held as a fundraiser for a local charity.

The film, which is a project with Loach's long-term screenwriting partner Paul Laverty, tells the story of Robbie as he sneaks into the maternity hospital to visit his young girlfriend Leonie and hold his newborn son Luke for the first time.

He is overwhelmed by the moment and swears Luke will not have the same tragic life he has had.

Escaping a prison sentence by the skin of his teeth, he's given one last chance.

The screening takes place on Friday, November 9 and is a fundraiser for community arts therapies in partnership with Bath and North East Somerset Carers Centre.

It is being held at the Bath Spa University Theatre, at the Newton Park campus, and starts at 6.30pm.

Loach, pictured, who lives in Bath and is best-known for his films Kes and The Wind That Shakes The Barley, will be in attendance and will stay afterwards to answer questions from the audience.

Tickets are £8 and can be bought from the Bath Box Office, in Abbey Church Yard, by calling 01225 463362 or emailing boxoffice@bathfestivals.org.uk.
