Judd Trump kicks-off the new season with convincing win over Dale
Judd Trump started the new season with an impressive win at the Wuxi Classic in China.
Bristol potter Trump eased to a 5-1 victory over Welshman Dominic Dale in their first- round match at the opening ranking tournament.
With victory wrapped-up in 92 minutes, last season’s UK champion will now face Gloucester’s Robert Milkins in the last 16 stage at this week’s £400,000 tournament.
The 22-year-old is making sure his feet stay firmly on the ground as he looks to win his second title on Chinese soil, having won the China Open two years ago in the Far East.

“I played well, but there’s still a long way to go,” stressed Trump. “It’s always good to get your first round match of the way, it’s such a long way to come to China and then lose your first round.
“But I know what Dominic is about and I thought I took my chances and played well.”
Trump and former Shanghai Masters champion Dale clashed in the first round of this year’s Betfred.com World Championship in Sheffield, where Trump triumphed despite having been struck down with bad food poisoning on the morning of his match with the ‘Spaceman’.
“Dom’s a good player, but I didn’t give him many chances,” added Trump. “I’ve got another tough match against Robert Milkins in the next round, but I’ve got nothing to fear. I’m just going to play my natural game.”
Dale won a scrappy opener, but Trump won the next five frames on the spin with breaks of 113, 108, 75, 64 and 50.
