John Jackson steers British bobsleigh team to top five in Sochi
John Jackson ended the 2012-13 Bobsleigh World Cup season ranked as the sixth-best driver after his British four-man crew matched their finest result of the year in the 2014 Olympic venue of Sochi.
Jackson, Stuart Benson, Bruce Tasker and Joel Fearon were just three-tenths of a second behind the Latvian winners, led by Oskars Melbardis, as they finished a fine fifth in Russia in 1min 52.61secs.

That meant Jackson was also fifth in the final four-man driver standings, although he had to settle for 14th in the two-man rankings after an inconsistent season.
He was reunited with Tasker in last Saturday’s competition at Sochi and finished 16th in 1:55.18, with Craig Pickering – who had partnered Jackson in recent competitions – placing 28th with British number two driver Lamin Deen.

Paula Walker’s injury-hit winter ended on a disappointing note as she recorded her worst result of the season, finishing a lowly 16th with Gillian Cooke in the women’s two-man competition.
That meant Walker finished ninth in the overall rankings.
Victoria Olaoye placed 19th with Kelly Denyer last weekend, putting her 21st overall – two places ahead of fellow junior Mica McNeill.
