Bath Racecourse general manager Jo Hall gives her take on the racing scene...

It has been a week of highs and lows in the racing world.

The build up to the main event at the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe saw disappointment for Danedream as she was unable to run and defend her title.

There was much speculation as to who would partner Camelot as jockey Joseph O'Brien was unable to make the grade before it was confirmed that Frankie Dettori would take the reigns of the classic hero.

The excitement didn't stop there, with Japan enduring a crushing defeat as Orfevre, the triple crown winner and race favourite, was overtaken on the line by little-known filly Solemia under Olivier Peslier.

Frankel is set to go for what is likely to be his final race in Qipco Champion Stakes on October 20, despite a dismal weather forecast.

The soft ground at Ascot will not stop Frankel from trying to cement his place in racing history with a 14th straight victory and with two potential challengers, Arc runner-up Orfevre and Saonois, ruled out from attending his chances look promising.

We have our own exciting fixtures at Bath Racecourse this week, with afternoon racing tomorrow followed by our Oktoberfest season finale on Sunday, October 21.

This looks likely to be an action-packed meet, with the chance to sample continental beers and listen to live music from a traditional Oompah band.
