Jenson Button expects to be booed if he beats the Ferraris at Monza
Jenson Button is ready to withstand the boos from the Ferrari fans if it means him standing on top of the podium in Monza on Sunday.
Button added to his portfolio of victories three days ago with a lights-to-flag triumph in the Belgian Grand Prix to thrust himself back into contention for the world title.
With the race one of the most famous on the calendar, Button has now triumphed at such venerable venues as Spa-Francorchamps, Monte-Carlo and Suzuka.
As one of the most iconic circuits in the world, you would think Monza would also be in his sights, in particular after a run of three successive runner-up finishes over the last three years in Italy.

The only problem is a Ferrari driver has also been on the podium the past three seasons, and in the eyes of the tifosi, that man is all that matters.
Asked whether Monza figured on his ‘to-win’ list, Button said: “It does, but Monza’s just a little bit different. Winning in Monza must be a great feeling, but I would say it’s not one that I enjoy standing on the podium at. The tifosi are there to support Ferrari. They’re not there to support us.”
The traditional ending to an Italian Grand Prix results in many thousands of fans making their way on to the circuit to watch the podium ceremony, resulting in a sea of red.
For many drivers the sight should be one to behold, but Button added: “Yeah, I don’t know. I don’t like people booing. But Monza’s a great place and the last three years there I’ve been second, just missing out on a victory a couple of times, so it would be great to win there.”
Button trails championship leader Fernando Alonso by 63 points.
