Imogen Wolsey wins Running Bath performance of the month competition
The news that she had been voted winner of the Running Bath performance of the month competition for January couldn’t have been more timely for Imogen Wolsey.
The performance that earned the 19-year-old the prize of a pair of training shoes from the city’s leading athletics retailer was her victory in the under-20 women’s race at the South West Cross Country Championships in Devon.

It was a great start to the month but sadly Wolsey wasn’t able to push on as she would have liked as she suffered an injury that meant she has not run since.
“I had a really sore back after that and it was diagnosed as a stress fracture,” said Wolsey. “We think it may have occurred when I fell heavily when skiing before Christmas.

“The race in Devon just aggravated it as there were some very sharp downhill sections. It is very disappointing.”
Fortunately Wolsey is now on the road to recover and, with a new pair of shoes ready and available, cannot wait to get back into training.
“All being well I’ll be back for the track season,” said the Team Bath runner.

“Running Bath provides the most professional service ro runners. It does not have the advertising footprint that it deserves. Anyone who saw their tent in the Runners' Village on 3rd March for the Bath Half could see the effort and conviction they have. I know (because I asked) that one of the owners managed to get 1 and a half hours sleep on the night before the race because they were busy moving three van loads of kit into their display tent.”
