St Stephen’s retained the trophy when the St Mark’s School Sports Partnership staged another hugely-popular cross-country competition last week.

More than 200 runners from five primary schools took on two circuits of the wet and muddy course, with their individual scores being combined to make a team total.

The race was won by Sebastian, whose St Stephen’s schoolmate David was third behind Bathford’s Freddie. Enya from Bathampton was the first girl home in fifth overall.

Jack from Swainswick described the race as “tiring but fun”, while Alexi, Amber and Iris from St Stephen’s found the event “enjoyable but difficult in the wet and muddy conditions”.
