The new business is a change for the pair, who have both spent their careers working at and running restaurants and hotels around the world.
Before starting the Blue Quails Deli the couple, who have five children, ran the Woodlands Country House Hotel in Brent Knoll for six years – a business they sold to move to Bath last year.

Mrs Botes, 57 and South African born, said: "Our years in the hotel business have been an unforgettable experience, meeting so many wonderful people, but when the time came for us to opt for a lifestyle with slightly better sociable hours it was an easy choice.
"We love people, great food, good wine, excellent service – and we love Bath so when this shop became available we thought we could incorporate our mutual passion into a small business."
Husband Peter, 60 and also from South Africa, will be bringing his culinary skills to the new business. Mr Botes has won various accolades including an AA Rosette.
The Blue Quails Deli, which launched last week, is open seven days a week and offers charcuterie, cheeses, wines, cakes, breads, olives, salads and sandwiches.
The on-site kitchen produces daily specials such as soups, casseroles, frittatas, gallettes, cakes, patés and terrines and provide light breakfasts, lunches and tapas to take home or eat in.
