City of Bath men's 2nds maintained their promotion push in Davis Wood East Central 1 with a 5-1 victory over Yate A.

The returning Charlie Elias opened the scoring for City before a rapid team move that saw the ball travel the length of the field was finished off by Gary Ford.

Yate pulled one back but Dudley Bartlett netted from a short corner to make it 3-1. Ali Stone scored the next after a typically barnstorming Ben Batchelor-Wylam run and James Imeson put the icing on the cake with a far-post effort.

Andy Higgs helped himself to a hat-trick as City 3rds beat Wootton Bassett A 6-1 on Sunday.

Siegfried Baber – who also struck in Saturday’s 2-1 derby loss at Team Bath Buccs F – scored twice and Joe Griffiths once to complete the half-dozen.

City 4ths bounced back from their surprising 4-3 defeat at Swindon C on Saturday with a 9-2 triumph at Devizes A.

Jack Joyce struck four times, youngster Leo Fountain hit a hat-trick and skipper John Mahy added the other two for the East Central 2 leaders.

Joyce also netted twice against Swindon, with Andy Brooks also on target.

The 1sts went down 7-2 at home to Firebrands A in Conference North despite two customary short-corner efforts from James Kellock.
