CRICKET Pre-season nets have started at Hinton Charterhouse CC as the Branch Road-based club prepares for another busy summer.

Chris Antrobus will continue as captain of the 1st XI, which plays in Division 1 of the Surridge Wiltshire League, while the 2nds will be competing in Division 5.

Hugh Brooker is the new captain of the Sunday 1st XI, which plays in the Surridge North Somerset Cricket Conference Premier Division, and there is also an A XI which keep up the tradition of cricket with a beer against local villages sides.

Tom Tippetts has taken over as club chairman, with Anil Haththotuwegama taking his place as chairman of cricket.

Highlight of the summer will be an all-day match against the MCC on Sunday, August 8 but the club will also host touring teams from Middlesex, Kent and Mumbai.

Hinton also field teams at under-11, 13 and 15 level in the Bath & District Youth League, with matches being played on Monday and Tuesday evenings and training on Fridays.
