Helping hand for young entrepreneurs
Enterprising students across Bath will be taking part in a week of events celebrating bright business sparks around the world.
Global Entrepreneurship Week aims to encourage young people to turn their dreams of running their own business into a reality.
Students from the University of Bath will be travelling to Germany on Saturday for Student Enterprise 08, a conference featuring advice sessions, networking and the chance to develop business skills in practical workshops.
The event has been organised by the university's entrepreneurs' club and their counterparts at the University of Cologne.
The University's Student Union student enterprise co-ordinator, Siobain Hone, said: "Student Enterprise 08 gives students access to enterprise experts who can help turn their ideas into reality, whether it is to make money or try to improve quality of life.
"More and more students and recent graduates are taking the plunge in setting up their own enterprises, so this conference gives them an introduction to the skills and knowledge they need to make a good go of it once they start."
Two local businesswomen will also be talking to students at the university campus on Wednesday, November 19 as part of Women's Enterprise Day. Anna Burns, who launched an online business with her husband to sell unique recycled goods, will be joined by entrepreneur Modwenna Rees-Mogg to talk about successful paths to starting up and running your own business.
Business advisers Business Link will be running a free event for entrepreneurs at Green Park Station on Thursday, November 20 with representatives from Revenue & Customs, the Intellectual Property Office, banks, accountants and GWE Business West.
Pupils at City of Bath College will be taking part in the Make Your Mark Challenge, a one-day event run as part of National Enterprise Week to encourage teams of young people to provide enterprising solutions to everyday problems.
