Help us catch Haycombe cemetery vandals
People are being urged by Bath & North East Somerset Council to report vandals responsible for damage at Haycombe Cemetery over recent weeks. Three instances have been reported to the Police by the Council. These are:
- 24th August – Pergola Garden - items from memorial stones thrown into pond. Statue pushed off of concrete foundation;
- 29th August – War Graves – windows smashed in the Tempetio in the War Grave section (small stone open building);
- 6th September – Pergola Garden - items from memorial stones thrown into pond. Statue pushed off its concrete foundation. Plant containers smashed into pond and surrounding area.
Tracey Mock, Bereavement Services Manager at Haycombe, said, "This is completely unacceptable behaviour which spoils the environment of the cemetery for the people who come to remember their family and friends. Bath & North East Somerset Council is urging people with any information about who these reckless vandals are to contact the Police.

"Our message to the perpetrators of this crime is to show some common decency and stop ruining Haycombe for others."
Avon & Somerset Police Beat Manager Sgt Chris Clarke said: "This is disgraceful and mindless vandalism. We are investigating and have increased patrols in and around the cemetery. We will be working with management there to improve security and to catch the offenders. Anyone with information is asked to call us on 101."
