Haslemere hammered as Buccs reach last eight of national cup
Team manager David Horler was thrilled after seeing Team Bath Buccaneers under-18 boys rout Surrey side Haslemere 11-1 to reach the last eight of the England Hockey National Cup.
“The boys now need to build on this performance and ensure they keep their intensity of play,” said Horler who, along with coach Paul Matthews, has also led Buccs to the national finals of the England Hockey Indoor Cup.
“Inevitably the challenges ahead are great and we cannot be complacent.”
Buccs were in rampant mood on Sunday and set the tone inside the opening minute as Ed Horler showed typical dexterity to round the keeper and slot in the first goal.

Man of the match Ben Stone doubled the lead soon after and went on to bag a brace, while Horler finished with four goals to his name.
Julian Schwartz was solid in defence and also got on the scoresheet, as did Rob Piesse, Charles Parry and Jake Cannock, while the tireless Tom Potter forced an own goal.
Buccs will entertain Cannock in the quarter-finals on March 3.
