Midfielder Adie Harris has reached an agreement with Bath City to return for a third spell at Twerton Park.

The combative Welshman, 28, has taken a pay cut to sign on until the end of the season after cutting his ties with Weston-super-Mare.

Harris' arrival comes as winger Richard Evans departs for Weston on a three-month loan deal, with City having a 24-hour recall clause after the initial 28 days.

Boss Adie Britton promised some fine-tuning of his squad during January but could lose the services of Latvian Andrejs Stolcers, who is mulling over an approach from Truro City.

But he is pleased to have secured the services of Harris, a member of City's Southern League championship- winning squad of 2007-08.

"Adie's coming for so much less money than he left us to join Newport for and than he was on at Weston it isn't true," he said.

"You wouldn't believe somebody would leave a place where there were earning X for somewhere else to earn Y. But he has missed Bath City Football Club and realises what a good squad we've got going forward.

"He's a good addition to the squad and brings an extra 10 per cent of passion and energy, and will ensure the dressing room is never quiet and training sessions are never low-key.

"He knows he has got a difficult job to get into the side and people might ask why I've signed him but the picture will become clearer.

"It could be a case that two more leave and two more come in over the next few weeks and we're looking at getting the balance right in all positions."

Stolcers, 35, signed non-contract forms with City last month but could cut short his stay at Twerton Park to link up with new Truro boss Steve Thompson, who he knows from his time with Yeovil.

Britton conceded: "It's out of my control.

"He is looking to bring his family over from Latvia and they would not be able to survive on the money we're paying.

"There's no way we would want to lose Andrejs. We'd like him to stay for the rest of the season and beyond – he wasn't just for Christmas.

"He's got such good ability, which we've only seen a glimpse of so far, and experience of English football."

City are facing the prospect of another blank Saturday this weekend with their scheduled game at Hampton & Richmond Borough a huge doubt due to the Arctic conditions.

They have not played since beating Weston-super-Mare on Boxing Day and Britton is eager for a return to action.

He said: "It's a nightmare. We managed to train together on Tuesday, which was good because it'll be a bit disrupted and the players will need to keep focus and do as much as they can to stay fit individually.

"We need to make sure that when we do play again, whenever it may be, we can be straight at it.

"I'd say there is no chance of us playing at Hampton and just hope the decision is not left until Saturday morning, because some of the lads have a two-hour trip to Bath to meet up with the rest of the squad."
