Greenest schools in Bath and North East Somerset set to cash in
A fund of £10,000 is available in B&NES for primary and special schools which increase recycling in their communities.
Pupils are asking friends and family to make a pledge to recycle more of their rubbish each week. The more pledges a school collects, the more points it gets in a rewards scheme with prizes such as computers, musical instruments and sports equipment on offer.

Nearly 60 schools have signed up to the Government-funded B&NES Council project.
Cabinet member for neighbourhoods Councillor David Dixon said: "It is really important that recycling is promoted to children and young people because they will take on the challenge of tackling climate change in future decades.

"The council is building on our excellent record of supporting residents to recycle by encouraging children to apply what they learn into the home and inspire their family to become more eco-friendly.
"The scheme is a great way to achieve this aim, while also rewarding local schools for helping to spread the word."

“I'm sure this is an excellent iniative, but the most benefit can be achieved by parents not driving their offspring to school in individual cars. Cycling or walking is surely the correct way?”
