BOWLS Bloomfield Bowls Club president Derek Covel officially opened the club's green last Saturday.

Covel was joined by 59 members for an enjoyable afternoon's bowling, with Glyn Jones and Lyn Newport picking up the honours for best man and woman respectively.

Following the game, 84 bowlers and social members sat down to a three-course tea prepared by the club's hard-working ladies.

Bloomfield are looking forward to a busy season with men's, ladies and mixed teams playing regular league and friendly matches as well as club and county competitions.

The club is always keen to welcome new members, both young and old, and have an experienced team of coaches ready to help beginners learn the basic skills.
