So B&NES leaders have 'issued a rallying call' against Government plans to force the building of 21,000 new homes in the area, many on green belt land, have they?

We read such platitudes as: "The green belt land round the city of Bath, and the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, are landscapes which make an essential contribution to the outstanding universal value of the Bath World Heritage Site by protecting the setting of the city, and form a key element of the World Heritage Site designation. Brownfield sites must be developed first. If this open landscape is nibbled away by development, Bath will lose its sense of place."

Is this the same council that recently removed 40 acres of land from the green belt at Claverton Down to facilitate expansion of the University of Bath, while considerable opportunities exist to further develop the existing campus as pointed out by a Government inspector? The 40 acres in question form part of the World Heritage Site and the Cotswolds AONB.
