Georgina named as England Women's vice-captain ahead of Six Nations opener
Bath-born Georgina Gulliver, nee Rozario, has been named as vice-captain of the England Women’s team which will face Scotland in the opening round of the Six Nations on Saturday.
The former St John’s Primary, St Gregory’s and Oldfield School pupil, who began her career at Avon RFC, will start at scrum-half for the match at Esher RFC (2pm).
Sarah Hunter – a team-mate of Gulliver’s at Lichfield – will captain a youthful England team, which is missing a number of regulars who are instead at the Sevens World Series in America.
England head coach Gary Street said: “This year’s Six Nations is an exciting challenge. Training has gone well, we are looking fresh and the team are really up for this.

“Despite missing several players to the Sevens WRWC training squad, this is still a strong starting line-up and I am sure many teams would also still fear our bench.
“Many of our players may only have a handful of caps between them but the likes of Amber Reed, Hannah Gallagher and Ceri Large have all played France and the world champions New Zealand, and have beaten them.”
As defending Grand Slam champions, England will be favourites for Saturday’s clash on paper but Scotland know they must finish in the top two in the Six Nations to have a chance of qualifying for the 2014 Rugby World Cup.
“This is a big year for Scotland with RWC qualification at stake, so we are not going to be taking anything for granted,” said Street.
“They have got some very strong forwards and an excellent captain in Susie Brown, so Saturday’s opener is definitely going to be a tough test.”
