Multi-talented Bath prodigy George Hankins finished an excellent sporting year by representing England at the national schools football championships in Derby last week.

The 13-year-old has spent two years studying at Millfield's prep school in Street and will join the main campus in September on the back of a sports scholarship.

George has excelled in cricket, rubgy and hockey, leading Millfield to national titles in each sport. He also finished runner-up in the national school championships in golf despite only taking up the sport last year.

George plays in the youth section of Bath Cricket Club and has been part of Somerset County Cricket Club's Academy since the age of nine. He specialises as an all-rounder and boasts the second best batting average for schoolchildren of his age in the country.

Proud father Matt Hankins said: "He has had an excellent year and we are very proud of him. He does not have a favourite sport because he loves playing them all.

"George loves playing sport and he is lucky to be very talented at most of the ones he takes up.

"Next year he will have to choose one winter sport and one summer sport because that way he can focus and hopefully succeed at a higher level.

"I think he will probably choose football and cricket but then again it could be rugby and golf.

"I honestly think he has the potential to make it as he is very talented. We will just have to see as when boys get older they lose focus and want to try new things but at the moment his attitude is great."
