A Bath care home has won the South West section of a nationwide gardening competition run by its parent company.

Ivybank House at Entry Hill has taken the regional crown in the Four Seasons Health Care contest. Staff, residents and relatives worked together to create the themed entry, spending the past year creating a space where they grow soft fruits and vegetables. Residents are now able to meet in the gardens.

Four Seasons head of marketing Suzanne Roberts said: "Ivybank has entered this competition for the past three years and each year been highly commended so I am delighted to finally crown the home regional winners. The winning gardens are not the ones that have the most money spent on them but the ones where there is a creative approach, and staff work with our residents to enhance the environment."

The Bath Foodbank charity has collected 1.18 tonnes of food donated by customers at Sainsbury's at Green Park.

A collection was held earlier this month and volunteers were overwhelmed by the amount of food donated by the customers.

Chairman David Purdon said: "It was one of our best collections ever. It is amazing how generous the shoppers were."

Bath Foodbank has been in operation for a year, in which time it has supported 1,200 people.
