Bath police have renewed their appeal for help in trying to solve a serious sexual assault.

A 19-year-old man has reported that he was raped in the city centre last month after he became separated from his group of friends.

The incident happened in the early hours of Saturday, October 13, between 3am and 4am, near to the Theatre Royal.

The Chronicle has previously carried appeals for information about the crime, and the victim's mother has spoken about the impact the assault has had on her son and her concerns that it could happen to somebody else if his attacker is not caught.

Police have now released a description of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the assault.

He is described as Asian, aged between 26 and 28, with short, black curly hair and of a stocky build.

He was wearing a shirt with horizontal stripes and dark trousers.

Police have also released a very poor quality CCTV image of the man that people can view by visiting www.avon andsomerset.police.uk, clicking on Newsroom and looking for the press release issued earlier this week.

Any witnesses, anyone who recognises the man, or the man himself, is asked to contact Bath CID on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
