Motorists were warned to drive carefully this morning after frost and ice has left some roads dangerous.

Eye witnesses have reported treacherous conditions on Freezing Hill Lane to the north of Bath, with cars sliding around the road and struggling to get up hills.

South Gloucestershire Council is responsible for that particular stretch of road and a spokeswoman for the authority said it had been gritted.

She said: "Freezing Hill was gritted this morning, the run was carried out between 4am and 7am."
