FAN'S VIEW: Football role models are alive and kicking at Twerton
Another week and another prize scalp claimed by an in-form Bath City side.
This time they vanquished a Thurrock team who had won their previous match 8-2 against Eastleigh and are also contenders for a play-off berth.
-

The win was far more comfortable than the 1-0 margin of victory suggests as City missed some gilt-edged chances.
They also had to contend with a mixture of theatrical and thuggish tactics by the Fleet. A diabolically late and high challenge by Rob Swaine should have resulted in a straight red but the clueless referee allowed him to stay on the pitch.
It appeared that Swaine's team-mates were being systematically picked off by an invisible sniper, as they often went to ground without any sign of being challenged.
We are now firmly ensconced in the play-offs and can now look forward to a trip to Eastleigh on Saturday.
'Beastleigh', as we call them, can be a physically intimidating side with a management team that portrays a far more credible impression of the Mitchell brothers than their counterparts at Weston-super-Mare.
They have lost a few at home recently including the aforementioned 8-2 reverse and have tried to blame this poor run of form on their pitch.
The Bath City squad thoroughly deserve their elevated position in the league and you couldn't wish to meet a more genuine bunch of players.
Adie Harris and Dave Gilroy mentioned on their returns to City how much they had missed the camaraderie of the dressing room when they left the club.
The camaraderie is not just between the players but is also extended to the fans. They are always available for a chat before and after games and many keep in touch via Facebook, phone and text.
Some of them even share transport with the fans on match days. Last Saturday Sido Jombati received a lift to the ground from a City fan and Hector Mackie caught the number five bus to the ground with fans, including one who was sat next to him chatting about our chances for promotion and the impending game while being blissfully unaware that Hector actually played for us!
The attitude and behaviour of the City players is in marked contrast to some of their fellow footballers in the Premier League, who have been attracting lurid newspaper headlines for their off-field shenanigans.
A lot has been said in the press about the need for footballers to be role models.
You won't find role models by sitting on your sofa watching the overpaid, pampered and detached prima donnas of the Premier League on Sky, you will find them by coming to Twerton Park and watching the players of Bath City.
