CLIVE CARROLL

Clive Carroll who is appearing at Wiltshire Music Centre in Bradford on Avon tomorrow studied classical guitar and is a graduate of London's Trinity College hence his technical precision.

He has an intuitive style mixing traditional folk music including old Irish airs, played to perfection, with a range of influences from bluegrass and blues to contemporary folk and jazz.

He plays with such clean technique and perfect phrasing which emphasise the tone and melody that sometimes the pieces can sound almost understated and at others naturally flamboyant.

DANA & SUSAN ROBINSON

Dana and Susan Robinson from North Carolina combine folk roots and traditionally based American music with contemporary songwriting skills and tight musicianship.

Their songs are about America – its land and its people.

Dana is a fine singer and multi-instrumentalist who writes songs in the traditional style. His partner Susan sings fluent harmonies and plays guitar, claw hammer banjo and traditional Scottish style fiddle.

The result is a distinctive sound that mixes elements of folk song, bluegrass and country blues.

They are appearing at Corsham's Folk at the Oak tonight.

HAYSEED DIXIE

Straight from the Appalachian Mountains of USA Hayseed Dixie who are appearing at Komedia on Wednesday are a real crowd pleaser with their hillbilly costumes and show-stopping style.

Their original fusion of contemporary rock (Queen, AC/DC and more) and mountain bluegrass may seem tongue in cheek but there is no doubting their love of the music or virtuoso skill.

Their performances are unashamedly tongue in cheek but with spectacular musicianship like this even the most serious roots music fan will love them.
