Flood alerts issued for west Wiltshire after downpours
The Environment Agency has issued two flood alerts this afternoon for the Bath and west Wiltshire area following torrential rain and the forecast of further downpours.
They mean flooding is possible and residents should be prepared.

The first alert, issued just after 1.15pm today, is for the Mid Bristol Avon area, including the Mid River Avon and tributaries including Melksham and Bradford on Avon.
The agency says river levels are rising on the Avon at Great Somerford, River Avon at Bradford on Avon and at Bathford, and Semington Brook at Semington.

Its other flood alert, issued at 1.30pm, is for Upper Bristol Avon area, including Malmesbury and Chippenham tributaries.
River levels on the Tetbury Avon at Brokenborough, Sherston Avon at Fosseway, River Avon at Great Somerford, and Dauntsey Brook at Dauntsey are rising, it says.
