The importance of blood donation was highlighted by an event involving a crowd of schoolchildren in Bath's SouthGate centre.

Some 95 students from Kingswood School staged a surprise flashmob, emerging from crowds of shoppers to burst into a rendition of Bonnie Tyler's I Need A Hero.

NHS staff gave information and advice about giving blood, with the aim of encouraging people to donate.
