A horse was rescued by firefighters after getting stuck in fast-flowing flooded brook in Wellow last night.

Crews were called to a farm in Hinton Hill at around 6.50pm to reports that the animal, which was 16 hands tall and weighed around 630kg, was trapped in 3ft of water.

Specialist teams, including the swift water rescue crews, arrived at the scene and were able to successfully free the horse and lead it to safety.

The animal was not injured and has been reunited with its owner.
