Finals day to be held at Rec
CRICKET More than 200 young cricketers will descend on The Rec in the summer when it plays host to the Somerset Year 6 Kwik cricket grand finals.
Teams will battle it out across the county for the right to appear at the city centre venue on Sunday, June 20.
Somerset cricket development manager Andrew Moulding said: "Up until now we have always held the finals at the County Ground, but this year we have decided to take this high-profile cricketing event to The Rec in Bath.
"They will be able to host more games at a time, so we will be able to have more teams competing on finals day.
"This will be the first time for a long while that so many young cricketers will have been involved in a cricketing activity at The Rec so we are all looking forward to it, and just hope for good weather."
Rec Trust chairman Cllr Chris Watt said: "The Trust has been working to increase the use of The Rec and to play host to the Somerset finals is exciting for us.
"The Rec is at its best when playing host to tournaments and sporting festivals like this."
