Fewer children are hit at 20mph

â Speed limits on Britain's urban roads are 60 per cent higher than the average in Europe.
â British parents consistently cite traffic speed as the main reason why their children are not allowed to cycle or walk to school.
â Lowering urban and residential speed limits to 20mph has been found to increase average urban journeys by around 40 seconds.

“Surely this is a no brainer. 20mph should be the default limit on residential roads and those past schools, and it should be rigidly enforced.”
