Ex-Chippenham man jailed for sexual abuse of boys

A former newsagent from Chippenham has been jailed after admitting a string of indecent assaults on young boys.

James Palmer, 47, abused the young boys between 1998 and 2005.

Palmer was jailed for eight years at Swindown Crown Court on Thursday and will also be on an extended licence for a further four years.

He systematically abused the boys, who were aged between 10 and 15 at the time of the offences, by befriending them and buying them gifts and giving them money.

The offences only came to light in 2011 after a member of the public contacted Wiltshire Police on behalf of two of the victims.
