Eastwood's hat-trick helps Bath Old Edwardians defeat league leaders Nailsea & Backwell
Jack Eastwood’s try treble helped promotion-chasing Bath Old Edwardians secure an impressive 38-0 away win over Somerset 3 North leaders Nailsea & Backwell 2nds.
With the slope in their favour, the hosts enjoyed most of the territory and possession in a frantic start but Old Eds defended stoically for 20 minutes and held out without conceding.
Eastwood then opened the scoring with a good individual try against the run of play and this spurred Eds, who began to play with more fluency.
Jim Brenner brilliantly switched play to put Jimmy Lythgoe over just before the half-time whistle, which sounded with Old Eds 12-0 up.

The visitors started the second half and a now-dominant scrum turned Nailsea over for Eastwood to score his second try.
James Lee added his name to the scoresheet before Eastwood added his third. Captain Andy Todd rounded off a win that keeps Old Eds in second place by going over in the last play of the game.
