Filming has begun in Keynsham for a spectacular scene from EastEnders.

BBC film crews as well as several members of the cast have been in Keynsham every night this week filming at an empty shopping arcade in Temple Street.

The storyline involves Lauren Branning, played by Jacqueline Jossa, her cousin Joey, played by David Witts, and Joey's father, Derek, played by Jamie Foreman.

Parts of Temple Street and Rock Road have been closed at night to allow for a dramatic stunt in which a car swerves out of control and crashes through a shop window, causing an explosion and fireball.

The former Peacocks store at The Centre has been transformed into a B£TTASAV£ shop front for the filming.

The centre is due for demolition to make way for a £34 million town redevelopment scheme.

Richard Godfrey, the BBC's location manager, said he was delighted with the reception the filming had received .

He said: "I have been particularly impressed with the smooth way in which the filming has come together and the co-operation and help that we have received from Bath and North East Somerset Council and of course the Keynsham residents."

The council, which runs the Bath Film Office, said the filming had taken months of planning by its various departments and the emergency services.
