Plays teach us many things and this one is a delightfully gentle reminder that life is full of surprises, whatever your age, and that the most unlikely people can take pleasure in  each other's company.

If you saw the hit film you know what you're in for.

Daisy's son tells her that following an accident, she is too old to drive and hires her a driver. But she doesn't, as she puts it, want a stranger in her house, prying into her affairs and eating the food from her larder.

But Daisy, played here by Gwen Taylor  with Hoke the driver played by Don Warrington  finds they have more in common then she –

or he –  could ever have imagined.

They find too that they grow not only to rely on each other but to

become fond of each other as well.

The show runs for about an hour and a half without an interval.
