This is Bath

The woman cyclist who died on the A4 near Box last Wednesday has been named as Sarah Hayward, who lived near Bath.

The 39-year-old had been riding towards the village at around 7.20pm when she was overtaken by a car.

The collision, which happened on the A4 near the Platinum Nissan car dealership site, saw the cyclist come into contact with the bonnet and windscreen of the car.

Great Western Ambulance were called to the scene and took the cyclist to the Royal United Hospital.

Ms Hayward sustained serious head injuries and later died.

The driver and passengers in the Ford Focus were unharmed.

The 27-year-old driver of the car, who is from Bath, was arrested on Saturday morning but she has now been released on police bail pending further inquiries .

An investigation is being carried out by Wiltshire police's Central Roads Policing Unit into how the accident happened.
