Davison seals series success
Bath driver Chris Davison has clinched the 2009 Westfield Sportscar Series title at Snetterton.
The race for the title came down to the last few laps of the final race.
Having qualified on the front row ahead of main series rival Simon Pryke, Davison made a fantastic start in the first race to take the lead going into the first corner.
He later held off the higher-powered car of Russell Small in their jostle for top spot, breaking a six-year-old lap record in the process.
It was down to the wire in race two – the title decider between Davison and Pryke from Leicester.
Davison made an electrifying start from second place on the grid to take the lead in the first corner. While Pryke, the series contender, set in his own battle for third, Davison and Small again led a nail- biting battle at the front which the Bath man eventually won to wrap up the championship.
Davison is considering a switch to the Ginetta G50 Championship, covered live on ITV4, next year but needs to find backing from a local or national firm.
