Students at a Bath secondary school have taken part in a dance and drama workshop to learn more about the Aids epidemic in Africa.

Sixth-formers at Hayesfield School were involved in the dance4life event, which was led by young people who have been directly affected by the disease.

The workshop was part of their Personal, Social, Health and Enterprise Education and gave them a chance to understand what their generation could do to stop the spread of HIV and Aids.

One of those leading the workshop, who gave his name only as Daniel from Sierra Leone, said it was important that people learnt about the dangers of Aids from a young age.

He said: "Where I come from HIV is a huge problem.

"It affects young people the most and they don't have enough knowledge to protect themselves. My sister died from Aids.

"I'm here to make sure young people in the UK protect themselves and push for more to be done to protect young people across Africa."

Last year the dance4life tour worked with 3,000 young people.

Organisers are hoping to double that figure during 2009.
