Martin Cox notched up his third Keynsham 10k Road Race success as more than 400 runners took to the town's streets last Saturday.

The Bath-based Salford Harriers man finished clear of the field in 33:31mins with runner-up Gary Hope of Severn AC 47 seconds adrift. Larkhall's Mick O'Doherty was third overall and second veteran.

TeamBath's first man home was Dave Coales (36:52) and he helped the club collect the male team prize along with Mark Bown and Malcolm Treby.

Bad-Tri's Nicky Russell was the first lady finisher in 41:38.

The race organisers, 1st Keynsham Scout Group, were particularly pleased that the Explorer Scout Unit won the Open Club Trophy. This was part of their team building in preparation for a summer visit to Malawi, where they will be renovating classrooms and building a guardian shelter by a maternity clinic.

The presentations were made by Jo Holburn of the Young Carers charity, who are to benefit from sponsorship money raised from the race and the Children's Fun Run that preceded it.

Olympic relay gold medallist Jason Gardener sounded the starting klaxon.
