Cowan hopes dashed
Ed Cowan will not be appearing in a Bath CC shirt this summer after all.
The Australian Test opener had signed on for the Globe Sports West of England Premier 1 champions and was scheduled to play against league leaders Bridgwater on July 7 and Taunton Deane the following Saturday.
However, the club has learned their star overseas recruit is ineligible for the fixtures as there is a rule in place preventing recent internationals from appearing in the league.
Bath skipper Robin Lett said: "It appears we have lost our battle to see Ed Cowan at Bath CC this summer as the league have put their foot down.

"There is a rule stating that international cricketers from the past two years are ineligible to play in the Premier League.
"We were under the impression that exceptions could be made, as in 2009 when we were allowed to have New Zealand wicketkeeper Peter McGlashan in our ranks, but sadly we have been overruled."
