Couple cut out of car
An elderly couple had to be cut out of their car after the vehicle came off the road and hit a tree near Corsham last night.
The crash happened just before 7pm on the B3109 Bradford Road at Rudloe.
A paramedic in a rapid-response vehicle was first on scene, backed up by two ambulances and an officer to liaise with other emergency services who attended.
Both occupants, thought to be a husband and wife in their 70s, were freed from the Vauxhall Corsa car by Wiltshire Fire and Rescue. The man, who was driving, had suspected spinal injuries and other minor injuries. His wife had cuts to her leg and a chest injury as well as a possible spinal injury.
Great Western Ambulance Service officer Andy Richardson said: "The lady also had an existing medical condition, so we and our fire service colleagues worked closely together to take additional precautions in releasing her from the vehicle."
Both patients were taken to Royal United Hospital by ambulance for assessment and further treatment.
