County make landmark trip
CRICKET Wiltshire Cricket Board under-16s have just returned from a landmark tour of South Africa.
The trip, which was made possible by the sponsorship of Seasons Holidays, saw the Wiltshire youngsters play five matches against a mixture of schools and clubs.
Wiltshire used the fantastic practice facilities at Western Province to warm up for their opening game against Bridge House School in Franschhoek, which they won.
Captain Guy Brothwood scored his first county century as the tourists racked up 316-3 on their way to victory over Western Province, one they followed up with a Twenty20 success against a Township XI.
After being given a tour of Robben Island by one of Nelson Mandela's fellow former inmates, the under-16s were handed their first defeat by Mitchells Plain.
They rounded off the tour in style, though, beating Pinelands School on a fine wicket in the shadow of Table Mountain.
