Council's cash boost
Bath and north east Somerset has benefited from almost £2 million of extra funding thanks to a Government incentive linked to new homes being built in the district.
The Government has announced that B&NES Council is to get £759,048 for 2013/14 from the New Homes Bonus, which it launched last year.
It has already received £611,349 and £606,839 from the scheme, which sees the Treasury matching council tax income generated by new housing, or reviving empty properties.
Villagers in Priston plan to get 2013 off to lively start with their traditional New Year's Day duck race, which now attracts visitors from miles around.
