Cook turns up the heat on cup rival
MOTORSPORT Josh Cook is the new leader of the Air Asia Renault UK Clio Cup rookie standings after two fine fourth-placed finishes at Rockingham last weekend.
The Bath-based racer started the 11th round of the cup seventh on the grid in his 20 Ten Racing-backed Clio, one place ahead of previous leading rookie Ant Whorton-Eagles.

He had to retire on the opening lap but Cook, who was hit on the first corner, managed to keep control before progressing through the field towards the end of the 14-lap race and crossing in fourth.
Cook, pictured, was sixth on the grid for the second race, which took place in pouring rain and started with the safety car.

When it pulled in at the start of lap three, Cook was again with the front runners and produced great car control to move up to fourth and fend off a late challenge from Josh Files, with the two side by side at times.
Cook – who set the fastest lap in the rookie class of 1min 42.71secs at a speed of 67.99mph – was eight positions clear of Whorton-Eagles, who is now 31 points adrift in the overall standings.
