Two budding young actors from the City of Bath College have won parts in a popular television programme.

Performing arts students Rosie Rae Allan and Ben Carriss-Smith are both appearing in the Channel 4 show Skins.

Rosie, 20, from Bath, plays the part of regular character Jemima and 18-year-old Ben from Bradford on Avon is a permanent extra.

Both are working towards their BTEC National Diploma in performing arts and hope to go on to make a career out of theatre and drama.

Ben said he had enjoyed the filming so far.

He said: "The days are quite long when we film but it's a lot of fun and I've really enjoyed myself working on the show.

"People have started to recognise me when I'm out and about, which is quite strange. My friends think it's really funny!"

Performing arts lecturer Matt Finch said a casting director from the TV show had visited the college for the past few years and several students had appeared in previous series.

He said: "We are in a strong position where a number of casting directors approach us looking for potential actors and we are able to help them.

"This course is a great platform for students looking to break into the industry."
