Colin Gamlin into last four of Bath Approach Golf Club shield competition
Colin Gamlin won four of the first five holes on the back nine, then birdied the 16th as he came from behind to reach the Bath Approach Golf Club KO Shield semi-finals at Malcolm French’s expense.
Gamlin also produced a late rally to draw with fellow struggler Colin Lee in Division 1 of the Seniors’ competition, giving them a three-point cushion over rock-bottom George Thurston.
He looked on course for a vital victory when he won four of the first seven holes against Terry Selway but his rival recovered brilliantly to take the spoils and stay in touch with the league leaders.
Bob McGreogor’s title hopes are over after he lost to Richard Randall, who saw a four-hole lead reduced to one before a win on the 16th secured one of his best results of the season.

Sue Norris is just two points off top spot after stretching her unbeaten run to seven games with a well-earned win over Mike Fear, making the decisive break by taking three of the first four holes on the back nine.
John Sercombe only needs to avoid defeat in his final game to clinch promotion from Division 2 after winning three of the last five holes to overcome the tenacious Brian Lambern.
Ingrid Doherty completed her league programme with a convincing win over John Grubb, who was beaten by the 15th after losing five holes without reply.
It was a similar story as Tony Damon – previously without a win – provided the shock of the season by beating high-flying Dennis Crombie with four holes to play.
Roger Randall is now virtually certain of promotion after fighting back to beat Brian Woodford, who birdied the first and third holes but faded after that.
A remarkable late recovery in the League Cup saw Craig Jones win four of the last five holes to snatch a draw against Tony Damon and go through to the quarter-finals.
