An excellent 36-10 away win over third-placed Calne 2nd kept Colerne RFC on course for a perfect Dorset & Wilts 3 North campaign.

Sean Hopper collected a delightful pop pass from Jamie Duncan to open the scoring and then produced a mesmerising run before releasing makeshift winger Mark Collins to score out wide.

Calne’s skipper grabbed an opportunist try just before half-time but Colerne restored their advantage from the move of the game, Ryan Willcox barraging through a static defence following a switch move with scrum-half Glyn Hodgkinson.

Hopper then collected his own up-and-under to clinch the bonus point with a brilliant individual try.

Calne responded with a touchdown of their own but Colene had the final say with a pick-and-drive from number eight Jae Binnie and a try from flanker Ashley Salter.

Willcox kicked three conversions for Colerne, whose front five provided the platform for victory by punishing their opponents time and again in the scrum.

Colerne, who have won all 17 league matches so far, now have three home games between them and a record-breaking campaign.
