City shine at national competition
City of Bath Rhythmic Gymnastic Club came away from a high-quality National Club Team Championship in Walsall with overall bronze medals after showing their strength across the age ranges.
The espoire group for under-12s claimed silver in their category and the junior team took bronze, while the senior side – weakened by the absence of two London 2012 gymnasts through injury – finished fourth.
More than 150 gymnasts from eight of the biggest and best clubs in Britain took part in the competition, which saw each age range broken down into four categories – individual, duet, trio and group.
To add to the excitement, clubs could play jokers – which doubled the points scored by a routine – and meant the final results remained a surprise right up until the announcement.

City's espoire group have taken massive strides forwards since the first round of the competition back in early October and were very strong in all disciplines.
The juniors also upped their game, with the duet and trio working well before Sarah Dennis – performing in her last competition before moving up to the senior category – performed the individual discipline in style.
