Charity Commission Rec verdict now expected in April
A Charity Commission decision which could pave the way for Bath Rugby building a new arena on The Rec has had to be delayed.
A commission official - known as an independent reviewer, who has not been involved with any earlier discussions on the scheme, has been appointed to look again at the issue.
This is because although the vast majority of people who commented on land-swap plans were in favour of them, the fact that 244 out of the 1,868 were opposed, means it has to be reassessed.
It is now estimated that a final decision on whether the scheme will be allowed to go ahead will not be made until April at the earliest.

Bath Rugby wants approval for a land-swap which would see the club get a lease for a larger plot of land at the Rec in exchange for its former training facilities at Lambridge being handed over to the Recreation Ground Trust.
If permission is granted it would then push ahead with detailed plans for a new arena at the riverside site, which would still have to gain planning approval from Bath and North East Somerset Council.
