Chance to win a trip to remember . . . in an East German Trabant

But one of the lots on offer at a charity auction next week is a trip in a cramped 600cc 38-year-old motor with a top speed of 70mph.

Former Mayor of Bath Bryan Chalker is offering the ride in his East German Trabant at the auction organised by young people's crime prevention charity Mentoring Plus.
The car, named Hermann the German, is a yellow 1974 two-stroke saloon which he found in a barn in South Stoke six years ago.

Mr Chalker now uses it as his main car and says it has only broken down once.
The event at Lansdown Cricket Club on November 10 at 7.30pm is to raise money for education projects and training mentors.
Other lots include tea for four in the Mayor's Parlour, tea with Lord Knight of Weymouth at the House of Lords, a language course of your choice, tickets to the panto at the Theatre Royal and tickets for The Lion King in London.
Mr Chalker said: "I wanted to do something that was a bit of fun. I've come across Mentoring Plus in my work as council chair and as a former mayor.
"It's a very worthy cause and I'm all for helping people who need help."
