These are the among the latest cases to be dealt with by Bath Magistrates Court.

Daniel Karoly, 40, of Willow Close, Odd Down, was fined £500 and given six penalty points for driving without insurance.

Nicholas Bennett, 46, of Redland Park, Bath, was fined £110 and disqualified from driving for 36 months for driving while over the legal alcohol limit.

Michael Symonds, 49, of Broadmoor Lane, Bath, was given a six-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months, a curfew and an electronic tag for assault by beating.

Tony Curtis, 42, of Oakhill Road, Bath, was fined £600 and given six penalty points for failing to provide a driver's identity to the police.

Andrew Bailey, 38, of Park Road, Keynsham, was fined £350 and disqualified from driving for six months for driving without insurance and driving without a licence.

Kathryn Walker, 21, of Pennyquick View, Bath, was fined £146 for shoplifting while subject to a conditional discharge.

Sarah Hunt, 29, of The Oval, Bath, was fined £120 and given four penalty points for speeding.

Christopher Pamment, 23, of The Paragon, Bath, was given a community order and ordered to pay £50 compensation for shoplifting and assault by beating.

Tukur Gidado, 21, of Lansdown Road, Bath, fined £73 for being drunk and disorderly.

Daniel Chantrey, 18, of Claude Avenue, Bath, was fined £800 and given six penalty points for using a vehicle without insurance and using a vehicle without a test certificate.

Scott Palma, 20, of Chandag Road, Keynsham, was fined £37 and given three penalty points for failing to comply with a traffic sign.

Robert Townend, 25, of Southlands, Bath, was fined £600 and given six penalty points for driving without insurance.

Vincent Kent, 49, of Eleanor Close, Bath, was fined £73 and ordered to pay £50 compensation for assaulting a police officer.

Howard Betlejewsky, 51, of Stothert Avenue, Bath, was given a community order for possession of cannabis.

Luke Krupa, 22, of Yomede Park, was given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £100 compensation for assault by beating.

Araminta Windsor-Sharpe, 32, of Freestone Way, Corsham, was fined £55 and given three penalty points for speeding.

Andrew Eddy, 37, of Wedmore Park, Bath, was given a community order for obstructing a police officer.

Anthony Kinglake, 25, of Wells Road, Bath, was given a community order, disqualified from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay £150 compensation for driving over the legal alcohol limit, possession of cannabis, driving without due care and attention and assault by beating.

    “It's interesting that all those prosecuted for driving without insurance were fined less than the average yearly premium, it's probably a sound financial decision in there opinion. I fail to see why the courts don't impose realistic fines, i.e. higher than the average yearly premium, surely that would then serve as a deterrent for others. I believe the guidlines allow up to a £5000 fine.”
